Ashburn, Virginia, office, is a collaborative space for learning and sharing industry-centric knowledge and experience. The goal of the project was to create a distinct area with visual allure to greet clients and engage team members. The room and adjacent lobby consist of welcoming signage, ample seating, open space for demonstrating and teaching, a branded podium for speakers and instructors, an Owl Labs 360° camera and microphone, and TV screens for virtual needs, a tool wall for training purposes, and a fun and engaging 40-foot mural along the back wall.
The brand was designed with a focus on the values of continued learning and collaboration. Creative and inspiring elements and messaging are represented throughout the design components and tagline. The logo design depicts a lightbulb with a gear illustrated as the filament. The lightbulb, a beacon of illumination, symbolizes the clarity gained through knowledge and learning. The half gear acts as both a subtle nod to construction and the work of CBG, and a representation of the teamwork and collective growth the training space supports, as no gear truly acts along.
The mural was inspired by the merit-based culture of CBG, weaving in themes of collaboration, teamwork, and innovation. The design reflects the objective of the space - to circulate knowledge, new and old, with the intention of collectively elevating. The imagery in the mural, from left to right, takes the viewer on a journey from the cerebral to the tangible, from concept to construction, much like the work that occurs in both CBG offices and on job sites every day. Located on the main entrance to the Training Center, the door decal offers a nice counterbalance to the vibrant colors of the mural that peak through the glass doors, as well as those featured on the lobby desk backdrop. The decal maintains brand integrity by weaving in design components present in the rest of the space. The brand is cohesive throughout every element of the Training Center, creating a comfortable and exciting space to learn and grow, catering to team members and clients alike.
The Training Center hosts an abundance of weekly events from seminars to hands-on trainings. When an event is not taking place, the Training Center offers an aesthetic and comfortable place to take video calls, work independently, or collaborate with peers. When greeting clients, the space acts as a receptive “front of house” for those new to the CBG brand.
